Bayshore Resort and Bayshore Cityside 10 Miles North Of Valley City, Country Road #21 On Lake Ashtabula 701-845-1066 433 West Main Street, Valley City 701-845-1005 In spring 1960 Gcorge Freadhoff had just graduated from college at Valley City State College and had started teaching math and science at Valley City High School. Looking for a summer jobs George and his friend, Bill Anundson, decided to lease land at Eggert's Landing and start a fishing resort. In 1963 George married co-worker and VCHS home-ec teacher, Darlene Mickelson. They continued to work together and expand the resort. Bill moved onto other adventures in military and schooling. In 1970 the couple expanded the resort to include retailing merchandise and equipment and in 1972 Enterprise Sales built a showroom and shop at the resort. In the spring of 1979 George and Darlene purchased a building and moved their retailing business to the present day Valley City site. Naming of the building was assisted by a then Times-Record writer covering the grand opening story. In the story they listed the business as Bayshore (City Side). George liked the sound of the name so much it became official and is now Bayshore City Side present day.
